"Explore the Mystical Beauty of Mt. Qingcheng - A Famous Taoist Mountain in China's Sichuan Province"
Mt. Qingcheng, located in the southwest of the Dujiangyan Irrigation Project of China in Sichuan Province, is one of the most famous Taoist mountains in China. It is also a very attractive and intriguing scenic spot that is covered by luxuriant and verdant trees. The mountain, which is surrounded by numerous peaks and is shaped like a city, is dubbed 'the most peaceful and secluded mountain under heaven' and combines perfectly with its evergreen scenery.
The back Mt. Qingcheng is the main part of the scenic spot, covering an area approximately 15 square kilometers (about 3706 acres) that possesses alluring natural beauty and an abundance of cultural relics and historic sites.
Since tourists also found their way to Qingcheng shan, the monks placed some educational material along the path.
Sheng Deng Ting
“Qingcheng Holy Lamps” is one of the ten famous scenes in Qingcheng Mountain. In summer nights the moon is shining beautifully overhead with a few stars twinkling in the sky. From this pavilion people can see something twinkling above the horizon. It is said that the gods are gathering over Qingcheng Mountain. Thus Qingcheng Mountain is also called “the capitol of gods.” Scientists have not agreed on whether the twinkling is a kind of phosphorescent light or the trace left by unknown visitors to the mountain from outer space and the puzzle remains unsolved till now.
Yuanyang Wells
The two wells are excavated in Former Shu Dynasty, one of the five Dynasties in Chinese history. The two wells, one being square, the other being round, represent the man and the woman of an affectionate couple respectively.
The two wells are connected by water. One is turbid, the other is clear, one is deep and the other is shallow.
The three Chinese Characters “Yuang yan Jin” by famous painter Zhang Daqian were engraved here to name the wells.
